Anna coordinated the 'Art That Feeds' Food Drive for Not So Silent Night at the 1st Bank Center in December

Conscious Alliance is proud to introduce our latest member of the Boulder office team, Anna Leigh Taylor-Copeland. Anna began making her mark on the ‘Art That Feeds’ community as an intern in Autumn 2011. After being inspired by the music scene and generous fans of our community, Anna felt intrigued by the cause and the creative nature of Conscious Alliance. Her motivation to join the team comes from the opportunity to “connect patrons of live music with an important cause that they can get behind while delivering donations we collect to communities in-need.”

Anna’s commitment to the cause goes beyond the food assistance and hunger relief programs. Recently Anna helped facilitate the first Conscious Alliance ‘Art That Feeds’ Youth Art Workshop in Boulder aimed at fostering artistic skills and empowerment for both native and non-native youths. “We are hoping to achieve a new level of empowerment and inspiration for the youth throughout these in-need communities,” explains Anna, “so that future generations can have the self-confidence and tools to reduce the need for our emergency relief efforts.”

Born in Nairobi, Kenya, Anna’s involvement with hunger relief comes from her unique worldview and being raised by her parents who were both researchers. “Growing up seeing the effects of hunger and poverty everywhere around me made me feel a moral obligation to do what I can to alleviate that struggle, and Conscious Alliance does just that.”

With her roots planted in Africa, Anna now calls Boulder her home but brings with her the African concept of Ubuntu. Ubuntu is our ability to think outside of ourselves with a humanist approach so as to make ourselves available to the community at large in order to promote growth and nurturing. Anna applies this as the “collaboration between so many different people in so many different positions, from the Conscious Alliance staff, volunteers, and board members to the artists and musicians and everyone else who offers their support. There are many advocates of Conscious Alliance coming together on common ground to share ideas and contribute to the effort of helping our cause.”

Anna's hat collaboration with Grassroots California

This summer, make sure to look out for Anna’s brand new hat that she designed in collaboration with Grassroots California, and join her and the rest of the Conscious Alliance Team out on the road helping to feed the hungry wherever the music plays.  Check out our PROJECTS and EVENTS pages to learn more about our upcoming efforts and how you can get involved.
