‘Bring Nutrition Home’ Backpack Program

Our ‘Bring Nutrition Home’ Backpack Program provides bags of healthy kid-friendly food for students at Isna Wica Owayawa (Loneman School) on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. 100% of the students (K-8) receive Free and Reduced Lunch; 109 are considered homeless by government standards.

Through the help of our generous sponsors in the natural food industry, all 250 students go home with a bag of healthy food for the weekend every Friday. When you consider what it must be like for children to not have access to food during the weekends, you realize the importance of this program. Instead of worrying about access to food for the weekend, all students leave school with a variety of healthy food from our stellar natural food partners!  The program not only improves the health of Loneman students but also increases their attendance at school.

Our 2016-2017 partners include: Plum, Justin’s, Love Grown, Made In Nature, KIND, Pretzel Crisps, Angie’s Boomchickapop, Jackson’s Honest, Quinn Snacks, and Honest Kids.  Polar Bottle also supplied all students with an insulated water bottle to start the year.

Bulk donations by our partners are delivered to Loneman School
