WORLD FOOD DAY raises awareness of global poverty and hunger, and has been observed every year since 1979, in more than 150 countries. It serves as a wonderful example of international cooperation and community-building to help the poor, exemplifying our common humanity and basic goodness. Many of us take the luxury of knowing where our next meal is coming from for granted and believe that hunger only affects certain people and areas in the country. But for 1 in 6 Americans, hunger is a reality.¬†Right now, millions of Americans are struggling with hunger. These are often hard-working adults, children, and seniors who simply cannot make ends meet and are forced to go without food for several meals, or even days. We partner with Feeding America to bring donations from our 'Art That Feeds' Food Drives to local food banks across the country, while also working to bring healthy, nutritious food to impoverished Native American reservations. 8 out of the 10 poorest counties in the United States are on Native American reservations, where food insecurity is rampant due to severe economic isolation and poor agricultural conditions. Anyone can lend a hand and make a difference. Just this summer, a group of friends began their own Conscious Campaign they called ‚ÄòThe Good Hike'.
