This Thanksgiving Season we will be hosting our 8th Annual Holiday Meal Delivery, taking place November 17-20, 2011. Last year, Conscious Alliance distributed over 10,000 holiday meal boxes to Native American households on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota and the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana.

In April, the Conscious Alliance team, accompanied by Advisory Board member Mike Bank and his family, made a trip up to Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota in a fully loaded twenty-two foot Penske truck. We carried with us over 4000 pounds of food that was donated by our generous community at Food Drives at recent music events, along with a plethora of clothing and other donated items.

Conscious Alliance is initiating a series of art workshops for native and non-native youth, beginning in the Boulder/Denver area. The youth will spend a day exploring their imagination and producing their own unique artwork under the guidance of an 'Art That Feeds' artist.

In October 2011, Conscious Alliance sponsored a Coming of Age Gathering, held by Yellowbird, Inc, an American Native non-profit organization. The Gathering took place at one of the most beautiful and sacred sites for the Northern Cheyenne: Bear Butte, in South Dakota. 10 males and 10 females from the Northern Cheyenne Reservation participated in the gathering, with elders, speakers, and presenters guiding and chaperoning the youth while at Bear Butte.

On January 8th-14th, Conscious Alliance will be joining our community partners Yellow Bird Inc. to sponsor the Fort Robinson Spiritual Outbreak Run, a 400-mile journey from Fort Robinson, Nebraska to Busby, Montana. The run was created as a way for Northern Cheyenne youth to pay homage to their ancestors that broke out of Fort Robinson on January 9, 1879. Most of them were killed at this time, but a few survived and made it to their homeland, the Powder River country in Southeastern Montana and the current location of the Northern Cheyenne Reservation.

Due to your overwhelming support, Conscious Alliance was able to send teams to both the Northern Cheyenne and Pine Ridge Reservations this past weekend to distribute a truck full of healthy food to each community. Collectively we distributed upwards of 7,000 meals to the reservations!

In 2011, Conscious Alliance began sponsoring a drum workshop on Pine Ridge Reservation. The workshop is designed as a four-week program for 4th – 8th graders, and travels to multiple schools around the reservation throughout the year. Participants of the workshop learn the traditional Lakota way of making a hand drum.

A variety of items are currently available for bidding, including event tickets to All Good Music Festival and The String Cheese Incident at Horning’s Hideout, and signed posters by Widespread Panic and Radiohead.
