As part of Jam Cruise’s “Leaving
a Positive Legacy” program, Jam Cruise 2008 is partnering
with Conscious Alliance to bring much needed school supplies,
and over 1000 pounds of organic soap generously donated
by Pangea Organics www.pangeaorganics.com
to the Roatan Children’s Fund (RCF) http://roatanchildrensfund.com,
a charitable organization in Roatan, Honduras. Jam Cruise
passengers are encouraged to bring specific educational
items/tools onboard to donate to this worthy cause. Visit
www.jamcruise.com
for a full list of supplies needed. All passengers who make
a donation will receive a raffle ticket to win a rare piece
of artwork – a unique Greening Jam Cruise poster created
by Michael Everett. It is an artist proof signed by Everett
and 100 Jam Cruise 5 artists. Those passengers who donate
a backpack filled with 3 or more items on the wish list
will be given five raffle tickets.
Volunteers and artists who wish to participate in the delivery
will de-board Sunday, January 6th at 9:00 am in Honduras
and offload school supplies and Pangea soap into passenger
vans. The vans will drop the supplies off at a local school
before heading to the Children’s Home for a special
Acoustic Set by select Jam Cruise musicians. After, volunteers
will drive a short distance to tour the new medical clinic/hospital.
Since its inception in 2002, Boulder-based not-for-profit
501 (c)(3) Conscious Alliance has collected and donated
over 600,000 lbs. of food to local U.S. food banks and to
impoverished Indian Reservations in the western United States.
Through the support of local and national sports, arts and
music communities, they hope to reach their goal of donating
one million pounds of food in 2008.
Pangea Organics, makers of Ecocentric Bodycare, has been
proud to support the important work of Conscious Alliance
since 2004 with over 20,000 pounds soap. Personal-care items,
which are often overlooked by donors, are much needed by
those in need since personal hygiene is an important part
of good health and self-empowerment. Pangea is happy to
give back to the global community in this way.
Roatan Children's Fund is a public benefit non-profit 501
(c)(3) corporation organized and operated exclusively for
charitable purposes. This organization seeks to advance
education and provide relief to poor, distressed, and underprivileged
children living in Roatan, Honduras.
Thank you for your continued support in feeding the hungry
everywhere the music plays!
